Senior Captain vs Vice Captain
The annual start of the season match between the Senior Captain and Vice-Captain took place on Monday the 12th April. It was a great day with plenty of banter and good humour and a few curses as well! despite a great comeback by the senior captain in his match it was not enough to stop the vice-captains team winning 51/2-31/2 . Well done to Mick and Rusty for arranging and organising the event. A great belatedstart to the season.
Seniors Xmas Competition - Friday 18th December
A really good day helped by unseasonally fine weather. Some very high scores so if you didn't score over 45 points you didn't make the top 3 in each group. Group A winner was Barry Needham with 50 points followed by Jess Steele 48 and John Forde 46. Group B winner was Joe Allen with 51 points and a hole in 1!, followed by Mick Rust 49 and Leslie Flatt 46. All the groups seemed to enjoy it so well done to Mick Turner ably assisted by his vice Mick Rust for organising and dealing with the last minute cancellations so efficiently. Have a great Christmas and New Year and look forward to 2021 once we are free of all of the tiers.
In the meatime keep safe and remember hands, face, space.

Ladies vs Seniors 2020
In an exciting and enjoyable match the seniors just made it over the line 1st with a 3 hole win. The first two matches went to the ladies with good scores but Barry Needham and Graham Skoyles spoilt that with a thumping 9 hole win that turned the match the seniors way. Well done to all, it was a good competition played in great spirit. The ladies will be looking for revenge in 2021.
Summer Seniors Pairs
The weather and temporary greens helped to make the pairs competition a high scoring competitive event.
The winners with a score of 50 points were Geoff Rouse and Jess Steele. Mick Rust and George Ford were 2nd with 49 points with John Dormer and Graham Skoyles a further point behind in 3rd place. Well done to all the entrants.

The fourball who won comprised of Howard Johnson, Barry Needham, Dave Newton and George Oldman. John Dormer won nearest the pin in two on the 15th. All in all a great days golf. Seniors' Player of the Year 2020
As this year's Seniors' Captain, I suggested at the AGM the introduction of a Player of the Year.
This will be judged on the 28 friendly fixtures we have, starting in March and running through to October and there will be a trophy presented to the winner.
Each player will be awarded 3 points for every match they win away, 2 points for winning at home and drawing away and 1 point for a home draw.
To be eligible, each player will have to play a minimum of 10 matches. We will then divide points into matches played to get an average. Therefore, players playing the most matches will not necessarily have an advantage.
Obviously, there could be an element of who you are drawn to play with giving an advantage, but hopefully, with careful selection, it should balance out in the long run. Please remember, this is a bit of fun only and not to be taken too seriously. Hopefully, this Competition will now run every year.
With regards to selection for friendly matches, we keep a list of who applies to play in all matches and we try to balance out selection in a fair, non-biased way. If anybody has special reasons for playing in particular matches, please ask and we will try and accommodate you.

Hodds Salver vs Swaffham Away
We had a great match at Swaffham only just failing to overturn the home team by three holes. They were a good side and the match was played in excellent spirit. So quarter finals in 2019 and hoping for further in 2020. Well done team, very many thanks for all of your support.
AGM & 3 Clubs and a Putter
We had a very well attended AGM which went well. The senior captain reported on the year's seniors activity and the treasurer reported on our accounts for the year. We agreed unanimously to donate £250 to the Sandra Chapman Centre at the James Paget Hospital, selected by Phil Lowe, one of our seniors, who is receiving treatment there at the moment. We decided to run a Player of the Year in 2020 for anyone who plays ten games or more in the friendlies. We will continue to add events and ideas so that we get the most from our membership. Alex Knapton will be the Senior Captain in 2020 with Mick Turner as his Vice-captain so all continued support will be much appreciated.
We played the 3 clubs and a putter competition this year over 18 holes. It worked out very well with Barry Needham coming out the winner with 36 points followed in 2nd place by Gary Aldis with 32 points. The captain offered to buy a cup for next year and add on Barry's name once purchased.
Many thanks to everyone who attended and who played. Your support is always appreciated.
One of our seniors, Phil Lowe, sadly died on Sunday after a year long fight against cancer. He was a great addition to the seniors and supported many of our competitions and matches. He will be greatly missed. His funeral will be held at 11.00am on Tuesday the 19th November at the Waveney Memorial Crematorium Beccles and afterwards at Rookery Park GC.
