Men's Section

Mens Club Championship

The winner of both the scratch and handicap competiton was Graham Banyard with a gross 81 and a net 71.

Barry Needham was 2nd in the handicap and Mick Robertson was 2nd in the scratch. A difficult day in awkward windy conditions. (photo follows)

Winner mens KO Singles

Nathan Sanders won the mens singles final ko 2&1 against Allan Schoenherr. A good match and a worthy winner.

Captains Charity Day

A great day's golf playing two ball texas scramble saw Josh Neal and Chris Lambert win the shield. A total of £1,185 was rau=ised for the Childrens Air Ambulance. Well done to all who entered and to our captain Mick Turner in getting all of this together, a great job.

Past Captains Cup

A great day, if a little windy, saw Phil Calver score a very impressive 41 points to win the Past Captains Cup.

We had 14 players in total, 10 men and 4 ladies, all past captains.

We sat down to a carvery afterwards.

Captains Claret

Chris Lambert was the winner of this years Captains Claret with a net 69 strokes. Michael Turner was 2nd and Josh Neal 3rd. Many thanks to all who took part.

Captains Drive in 2023

The three captains, Mick Turner, John Castel and Eileen Banham (standing in for Debbie Plane) drove off to start the 1st competition of the year a Texas Scramble. It was a little bit showery but otherwise the weather was fine. A great turnout and a good day was had by all. The winner team was Mick Rust, Anita Hartley and Wayne Dowler with a ghost player.  Many thanks as always to Mo, Pippa and Gill for arranging and for Mick Turner in ensuring the day went well. Over £100 raised for charity so a great start to the new year.

NGU Handicap League 2023

 

We have two teams this year with matches home and away against Barnham Broom, S|waffham and Thetford in team 1. Still waiting for the details of matches for Team 2.

Four ball better ball, four pairs, handicap index limit of 18. Matches played on Saturday or Sundays.

Thursday League

This as an external competition between several local clubs, GY & Caister, Rookery, Halesworth and Bungay. It is foursomes matchplay held on Thursday evenings from 16.30 between the end of April and the end of July. Home and away fixtures with several clubs running two teams.

Your captain this year is Mick Turner and his vice-captain is Mick Rust. All assistance appreciated to make their jobs easier and more enjoyable. It is a tough gig and we should all be pleased to have people who spend a lot of their time trying to look after the members.
